Kentmere is located due east from Ambleside, accessable only via a miriad of narrow roads. We had booked a Comping Barn (CB) on the edge of the famous 'horseshoe'.
Straight out of the door onto the hills - to the right, Shipman Knotts, Kentmere Pike, Harter Fell; and to the left, Yoke, Ill Bell, Frostwick.
Saturday dawned bright but cold. We turned right on leaving the CB. Once on the hills only a few other hardy souls were to be seen on the summits.
At about 1pm on the ridge walk, we had reached the point of the only escape route available, we we were at The Nan Bield Pass, with notherly views to Blea Water, and Haweswater.
Some elected to continue the high level walk and complete the horseshoe, others took the Pass south, and followed the valley back to the CB.
The weather remained sunny for the homeward journey, and the valley walkers arrived at the CB in good time for late afternoon tea and cakes.
With light fading there was some concern for the high level party; but soon after dusk we could hear their voices in the lane below the CB - another brilliant day on the hills.

Note by Editor: Ian took a bunch of lovely pictures on this meet. If you havent taken a peek at them in the gallery section already, here is the link
