 New Arrangements for Membership

In the coming months STMC is planning to make significant changes to its membership arrangements.  For existing members the current system of annual renewals will be discontinued and all existing members will be offered life membership.  New members will be asked to pay a one-off joining fee of £25.  New members will also be asked to complete and sign a membership application form as at present.  After the end of 2013 the Club will no longer maintain its affiliation to the British Mountaineering Council.   Members who want to continue receiving the benefits of BMC membership (insurance, discounts, Summit etc) will be able to join BMC as individual members.

Club activities will continue as at present: meets at roughly one per month, local walks, London socials and Xmas meals, and the main means of communication will be the E-News.

At the moment we have not been through this website to reflect these changes, so please be aware that in future the club will operate as described here.

London Social Evening.  Tuesday 13th November 2018; 19.00 onwards.  Mad Bishop and Bear, the pub at the top of the stairs in Paddington Station.  We will hold the AGM at 19.30.  Unless one of you would like to join the committee there are no real AGM issues to discuss, but we are required to call an AGM each year, so come and join us for a drink; the pub does reasonable food as well.

Club social evenings are held in London at 20.00 on Tuesdays, often, but not always, the second Tuesday of roughly every second month.  In December we have a Saturday evening Xmas meal instead.   Non-members always welcome.

If you come before 8.00pm please excuse any committee members present who, though appearing unsociable, will, be working tirelessly on the Club's behalf! (ie trying to conduct something resembling a committee meeting).

Non-members - if you are thinking about joining the Club, you are most welcome to come along and meet a few of the members.

Other social events - we will continue to arrange local Sunday walks from time to time, usually a 4 to 6 hour walk in somewhere like the Chilterns or North Downs, culminating in a pub.  Non-members always welcome.
