Club social evenings are normally held in London at 20.00 on the second Tuesday of every month except December, when we usually have a Saturday evening Xmas meal instead, and August, when many people are usually away.

Our regular venue is The Upstairs Function Room at The Perseverance, 11 Shroton St, Marylebone, London, NW1 6UG.  A couple of minutes walk from Marylebone Station.  From Marylebone Station head towards Lisson Grove, turn right, then left into Shroton Street.  Pub on the right, stairs to left of bar.  It is a fairly basic room in a quiet (but not too quiet) pub in the back streets.  The pub does not do food, but there is an excellent fish restaurant and take-way a few metres along the road, and no objection seems to be raised to bring fish & chips up to the function room.

If you come before 8.00pm please excuse any committee members present who, though appearing unsociable, will, be working tirelessly on the Club's behalf! (ie trying to conduct something resembling a committee meeting).

Our next evening at The Perseverance will be at 8.00pm on Tuesday 9th September, when Social Secretary Gareth will be giving an illustrated talk in on the Vale of Neath Waterfalls. A series of spectacular waterfalls in South Wales in limestone country. Including Scwd Yr Eira, the "one you can walk behind!".

Then on Tuesday 14th October long-standing member Steve is planning to give a talk covering his recent trip through the South Atlantic islands, i.e. Falklands, South Georgia, and a bit of the Antarctic peninsular.  Steve will be touching on will aspects such as the natural history of the place and show some of the sights that Shackleton 'enjoyed' on his Endurance voyage.

Then on Tuesday 11th November, new(ish) member Jon Cwill be speaking on his recent trip to Malawi and Tanzania including the ascent of Kilimanjaro.

Thereafter - we try to arrange some sort of 'event' most months, in most cases this will likely be a talk by one of our members, but we'll be looking at the possibility of arranging the occasional outside speaker, and maybe resurrect the Annual Quiz, etc.

Non-members - if you are thinking about joining the Club, you are most welcome to come along to the Perseverance and meet a few of the members.

Other social events - we will continue to arrange local Sunday walks from time to time, usually a 3 or 4 hour walk in somewhere like the Chilterns or North Downs, culminating in a pub.  Non-members always welcome.
